Title IX prohibits sexual harassment and sexual violence where you go to school. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”) is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities. All public and private elementary and secondary schools, school districts, colleges, and universities receiving any federal funds must comply with Title IX. Under Title IX, discrimination on the basis of sex can include sexual harassment or sexual violence, such as rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, and sexual coercion.
As required by Title IX, Salon Institute offers training in cosmetology and related arts and sciences to anyone who voluntarily consents to abide by the policies and procedures, standards of conduct, and enrollment contract. Salon Institute does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnic origin, religion, sex, age, physical handicaps, marital status or financial status in its admissions, instruction, graduation or hiring policies.
Any questions regarding Title IX may be referred to Karen Reichardt, the Salon Institute’s Title IX Coordinator, at titleix@saloninstitute.edu.

In accordance with the institution’s objectives, the Salon Institute will make every effort to resolve student grievances. The school maintains an open door policy in regard to grievances. All students have the right to voice concerns and expect appropriate corrective action to any issue that may be interfering with the educational process, or to receive an explanation of why the issue is not applicable. If an issue cannot be resolved by school Director the student may then forward their grievance in writing to the administration for mediation. 1) The written grievance should be given to the School Director/designee. 2) The information will be reviewed by the school owner/administration and a response will be sent in writing, every attempt will be made to respond within 15 days of receiving the grievance. The initial response may not provide for final resolution of the matter but will notify the student of continued investigation and actions being taken. In the case of continued investigation, the student will receive a response after the investigation has been completed. 3) Should the student find the response to be unsatisfactory, the student may appeal that decision to owner/administration. Appeals must be in writing and include copies of the original grievance, the original response, and any additional pertinent documentation. The owner/administration will review and further investigate the matter; they will then issue a final written response. Every attempt will be made to issue the final response within 60 days of receipt. Student should try to resolve the problem through the School’s Grievance Policy, however if the student is unsatisfied at the conclusion of this process, a grievance may be filed with the School’s accrediting agency or other oversight agencies. A record of grievances and procedures used to resolve issues will be maintained for the purpose of institutional improvement.
All information collected by the Salon Institute and its representatives for the purpose of contacting potential students and/or salon clients will be used strictly for the purposes of out reach regarding Salon Institute educational or salon services as requested by the individual.
